Two new recommendations from the Ombudsperson

November 27, 2023

Last Friday, the Ombudsman presented two new recommendations to the Special Committee for Complaints and Suggestions. The meeting was attended by all municipal groups represented in the Plenary.

The first recommendation, RAS 5/2023, deals with ageism and the violation of the rights of elderly individuals in their relationship with public administrations. It is a fact that older people may encounter limitations when exercising their rights, either due to lack of digital skills or other reasons that the public administration should compensate for to ensure their rights. However, administrations do not always meet these standards.

The second recommendation, RAS 6/2023, is related to the unacceptable delay in authorizing parking reservations for people with reduced mobility. These individuals have a right recognized by law but have to wait between 8 months and 2 years because our municipality is unable to respond more promptly.

As you can see, the Citizens' Advocate is present, taking action, and making it public so that municipal authorities make decisions. All this is in application of exclusive functions that no other entity, whether political or professional, exercises in our municipality.
